The Securities Commission (SC) has approved the application of Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (JAIC),one of the largest venture capital companies (VCCs) in Japan,to undertake activities in Malaysia. The rationale according to SC chairman Datuk Zarinah Anwar is to give the local venture capital market greater depth and breath to the pool of players within the industry.

- The registration of JAIC marks the entry of the first foreign VCC in Malaysia.
- As at 31 August 2008,there were 57 VCCs registered with the SC
