Singapore Brewer Takes-over Foster’s Vietnam assets
Published by slang September 28th, 2006 in Singapore, VietnamSingapore–based Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd (APB) started in Vietnam in 1991 by joining forces with Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigon Trading Corp. to set up Vietnam Brewery Limited (VBL).
APB has acquired Foster Group’s breweries in Vietnam for US$105 million under the August deal. The agreement has brought in an exclusive right for APB to manufacture and distribute Foster’s Lager in Vietnam.
Under the agreement, Foster’s, the world’s second-largest producer of alcoholic beverages, sold its breweries in Danang city and Tien Giang province along with the associated brands.The assets comprise of Foster Group’s breweries in the coastal central Danang city and southern Tien Giang Province and beer brand names of BGL, Larue, Larue Export and Larue Superior.
APB now has interests in 29 breweries in 10 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
It manages a portfolio of over 40 beer brands and brand variants, with Tiger and Heineken as its flagship brands.
