Some interesting statistics reported by MIDA pertaining to OHQs:

  • since the introduction of the OHQ incentive scheme in 1990,a total of 133 OHQ’s have been approved;
  • nationalities from USA (26);Japan(14);Germany (12);UK(10);Netherlands (9) ,Australia (9) and others;
  • total paid –up capital amounted to Rm606.3million with proposed annual business spending of Rm1.5billion.
  • a total of 1680 expatriates have been approve to be employed
  • 6,620 job opportunities were created for the Malaysians
  • most OHQs established are engaged in business process outsourcing (BPO) activities including provision of shared services to their related companies in the Asia Pacific region
  • to-date a total of 91 OHQs have started operations and are mainly involved in oil and gas,finance,Electrical and engineering,construction,food and beverages,timber,logistics,healthcare and health informatics,pharmaceutical,chemicals,automotive,power and engineering services.
