Survey: World’s Most Admired Companies2007

For the survey, management consulting firm Hay Group surveyed financial analysts, executives and directors at 347 companies with revenues of more than US$8bil last fall;
Companies were scored on eight key areas of leadership:

  • Innovation
  • Quality of management
  • People management
  • Financial soundness
  • Use of corporate assets
  • Long-term investment
  • Social responsibility
  • Product/services quality

Further details:
§         In the 2007 list, only 15 companies with headquarters outside the United States ranked in the top 50, three fewer than in 2006;
§         Fortune said companies that had good succession planning for top management positions, along with training and keeping their next generation of talented staff, were likely to be among the most admired;
§         US-based conglomerate General Electric (GE) was ranked first for the seventh time in Fortune magazine’s The World’s Most Admired Companies in 2007;
§         Toyota Motor and Procter & Gamble also maintained their number two and three positions respectively on the list.
