Features of a Good, Effective Final Warning letter
Should not contain empty threats, if you do not mean it, do not say it,
- Despite the purpose, it should be polite but firm. Do not be abusive
- It should state exactly what will happen if payment is not made by the stated date. There should be no ambiquity
- It should be short and to the point
- It is often a good idea to address the letter to the company secretary or some such person, with a copy going to the original contact. This increases the impact of the letter
- It is a good idea to send the letter by recorded delivery.

Overdue Balance of $XX
We notice with regret that the above balance is still outstanding. Although we wrote on 1/XX/2009 and 31/XX/2009, we have received neither payment nor a reason why payment should not be made.
We must now tell you that we expect payment to be made by xx/xxx/2009. If payment has not been received by that date, we will pass the matter to our solicitors with instructions to commence legal proceedings. This will be done without further warning to you.
Yours sincerely,
